Philly artists recreate 1973 Rube Goldberg orchestra

A bouncy ball that plays the harp. A tree of saxophones, blown not by mouth but by air pump. Two saws that bow the cello. Over 200 instruments make up the installation “Zwei Mann Orchester,” and they're all played by just two musicians. I spoke to the artists and organizers of this musical Rube Goldberg machine, a recreation of an avant garde score from 1973. It was the first time the work has been performed in the United States.
